On January the 28th to January the 30th the whole school went to Woodhouse for our whole school camp. Woodhouse is in Piccadilly; it is a big bushland type of place with a campsite on it.
When we got there the first thing we did was to unpack and find where things were. We split onto two groups, koalas and kangaroos. The girls were koalas and the boys were kangaroos. The girls had laser skirmish first. We met a man outside the forest with laser guns. We had to put sensors on our heads. The guns were heavy for the little ones. First we had a one on one match where we had to ‘kill’ anybody we saw. It was hard to spot people in the forest. When you had been hit 5 times you were dead and had to be re-spawned by the man running the game. After awhile we played a team game, which was the same as the first game but you were in teams and you had to shoot at the other team instead of just anybody you saw.
After laser skirmish we went to boomerang craft. We went into a building and met the lady who would be doing painting with us. We chose a painted boomerang and wrote our name on it. We then practised our design on a piece of paper. When we were happy with our design we started to dot paint. All of them looked amazing.
After boomerang painting we finally got to do Challenge Hill. On Challenge Hill there are a lot of obstacles all the way up a hill. Some were rock walls or swinging ropes. At the top of the hill is a thing called Mouse Trap, you crawl in and it is dark and you can barely move. When you touch something in front of you, you think it’s a dead end but you can actually turn. You go for a while, and then you get to an exit. Near the middle of Challenge Hill there is a slide that goes to the bottom, then there are lots of ropes going across the river. Liana fell in and got her shoes wet. In between each activity we had food breaks so we could have lots of energy. At night when the little kids went to bed we had a quiz night, all the questions were hard.
On the second day we played Chicken Run. In Chicken Run you run and get flags from other teams nests. When you get a flag from the other team you sprint back to your nest and try not to get caught by someone from the nest you just stole from. When you get it back to your nest you put it in the middle. If you get caught with a flag in your hand you have to give the flag back.
We had a full on day on Thursday and on Friday it was a bit more relaxed. I’m happy we went to Woodhouse, it was so much fun.
