Planning and Programming together as equals…
By bandicoot In Bandicoot Unit, Magpie Unit, School EventsOn the 24th and 25th of February the older students in the Magpie Unit had 2 Project Based Learning (PBL) Co-construction days with Birdwood High School, Campbell Town Performing Arts School from New South Wales, Hilltop Road Primary School also from NSW and us, Mylor Primary.
On the first day we all went to Birdwood High School and we did some mini projects that focused on the key elements needed to make a good project. After lunch we brainstormed some ideas for good projects and then we picked the best 4. Each of us got to choose a topic and expanded on it to make it better. The projects people chose were:
‘How does tragedy affect the law?’
‘How do you make a charity?’
‘How to be successful in life’
‘What actions will we see in students when they have pride in their school’
Then on the second day everyone came to Mylor Primary School and we continued on with the projects and then we presented them to everyone else and then they gave us feedback. After lunch all the schools left to go back to NSW so Birdwood and us were still at Mylor. During this time we organised and sorted out our feedback into what was helpful and what wasn’t.
All of the students involved in the co-construction days will be completing these projects throughout the year and some Mylor students will be travelling to Sydney later in the year to continue working together.
It was a good experience and I hope we do more things like that.
