This year’s Mylor Primary School Bonfire Night—taking place on the Mylor Oval on the evening of Saturday 25 June 2016—is shaping to be even bigger than last year’s record-breaking event.
The 2015 attendance of nearly 2,400 people was the highest ever for the school’s sole annual fundraiser. But as of today, with just over two weeks to go until the big day, around 3,200 people have indicated on the event’s dedicated Facebook page that they’re considering attending.
Once again we have an awesome list of attractions to help everybody forget the winter chill. For example, there’ll be:
- an enormous bonfire, 3-4m across!
- spectacular fireworks and incredible fire twirling
- a licenced bar, with near-legendary warm mulled wine
- kids’ activities, including jumping castles (one with disco!)
- hot barbeque and curries
- live music
- hot pancakes and coffee
Now in its 19th year, Bonfire Night continues to enjoy outstanding support from our local community.
The wonderful people at MJS Tree and Stump Removal are again donating all our wood. The Mylor General Store is once more assisting with publicity, and virtually our entire parent body is volunteering their time to contribute to the event’s preparation and conduct.
“It always brings the whole of the Hills together,” says our Acting Principal Felicity Godson. “There’s nothing quite like basking in the glow of that massive, raging bonfire on a crisp winter’s night with a band playing, friends chatting and kids haring about.
“We love it!”
The 2016 Mylor Bonfire Night will run from 6pm-10pm, with the fireworks at 8pm. Tickets are available at the gate – $10 for adults, $5 for children (u/18) or $20 for a Family Pass (two adults and up to three kids). BYO alcohol is strictly prohibited.
