This term in the Bandicoot Unit students have begun a ‘Farm to Fork’ topic in which they have been investigating different food groups and how they travel from various origins to our lunchboxes.
We began with a series of Masterclasses about each food group before students selected a topic to research further.
After their research was complete students began writing information reports to be included in an end-of-year publication. The next step will be to collect recipes and publish them alongside student research.
Students have been finding out lots of interesting facts so far, such as:
- A banana is a type of berry
- A banana tree is actually a type of herb.
- We mistakenly classify many fruits as vegetables such as; pumpkins, zucchinis and tomatoes
